When you think of an orthodontist, you probably think about kids in their early to late teens getting their teeth fixed. There’s no doubt that the number one clientele for virtually every Orthodontist in Highland Park probably falls into this category. This, however, doesn’t mean that these are the only patients that an orthodontist can see. What’s more, metal braces aren’t the only kind of braces that an orthodontist can provide.

Many adults are finding that they want to correct their teeth. In some cases, this is due to a medical concern that may prevent them from speaking or eating correctly because of teeth issues. In many cases, however, adults are wanting to simply improve their smile. Many adults, however, choose not to get braces because they’re concerned that their colleagues will make fun of them for having what’s considered to be a child’s device on their teeth.

New technology, however, makes it possible for adults to get braces without anyone else having to know. Here are some options that you’ll have from the most expensive to the least expensive.

Invisible Braces

Invisible braces, most commonly known as Invisaline, are clear plastic like trays that you place over your teeth. Once on, no one can tell that they’re there unless they get right up into your face.

These braces are specifically designed for your teeth and you receive trays that are changed out every six weeks, just like regular braces are tightened every six weeks. You change out the trays yourself, but you still see your orthodontist on a regular basis.

Behind the Teeth Braces

Behind the teeth braces are very popular among adults. They provide the same services as braces placed on the front of the teeth and are less expensive than Invisaline. These are more expensive than other options simply because access behind the teeth is more time consuming for adjustments, attachment and removal.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces are braces that are clear but are still worn like metal braces. These aren’t invisible, but they are still less noticeable than metal braces. They also tend to be more accepted by adults and are widely viewed as adult braces, even though anyone who has braces can wear them.

As you can see, as an adult you can visit Lippitz Orthodontics and get braces. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t love your smile and an orthodontist can help with that.
